Oral implantology is a multi-step process. A thorough initial consultation is absolutely necessary to get to know the patient’s situation and the problem they are facing. Secondly, X-rays of the tooth(s) are taken to establish the treatment plan. Then the surgery for the insertion of dental implants is scheduled. This is done under local anesthesia to eliminate discomfort and pain. This is followed by a waiting period (3-4 months) to allow the implant to osseointegrate. Temporarily, the patient may have a provisional prosthetic work made. The last stage is the actual realization of the definitive prosthetic work.
